Fire ripped through an outbuilding in Uley late Friday night, destroying the property and the two vehicles contained within it.

The Fire Service control room received a call at 11.45pm from the distraught owner of the property in Fop Street, reporting that her outbuilding was on fire.

An appliance from Dursley Station was mobilised with five firefighters onboard.

On arrival at the scene it became evident that further resources were required, and a second crew from Wotton-under-Edge was dispatched with four firefighters.

The outbuilding, which contained two vehicles and a propane cylinder, was well alight by the time the second crew arrived.

Firefighters used three mainline jets, one ground monitor jet and one hose reel to extinguish the blaze, which left the outbuilding and its contents completely destroyed.

Crews remained at the scene for several hours dealing with the incident and cooling the propane cylinder.

A thermal image camera was also used to ensure the building was no longer a hazard.
